So, interesting story. I “came out” this week—yep, I publicized for the first time ever on my “personal” Facebook page that I AM A ROMANCE WRITER.
Let me paint this picture –Imagine a painfully shy, young girl in school. Quiet, librarian-type very lady-like (that’s still mostly true.) never creating a ruckus (I admit, that’s NOT true, anymore 😉
You get the idea. And as if Junior High and High school isn’t painful enough, I happened to work in an Indie bookstore in our small, rural community. It had tons of paperbacks, greeting cards, and those brown-wrapped magazines on the highest shelf of the rack. My senior year, I was dubbed the one most likely to one day own an “adult book store.” (Yep, the prediction is on the senior breakfast program.)
Not an easy badge to wear as a shy kid 😉 Or was it kismet? I mean, I don’t own an adult bookstore, but I have some pretty spicy reads under my belt! Ha!
After some twenty+ years of school, work, and starting a family, we returned to our hometown with the desire to raise our kids near grandparents and in a small town atmosphere. I became a columnist advocate for the Fine Arts in our schools, eventually transitioning to reviewing books and then leaping off the fence to take a stab at writing them. All the while, writing, raising kids, volunteering, and no one, but my family and a few very close friends knew I was an author.
This year is my 40th class reunion. Yes, I say it loud and proud—40th!! And I decided that it was time that my classmates knew what I’d been doing the past decade or so! Most of my classmates and I literally went through school together (K-12.) This has been quite a revelation for some of them and it has been both liberating and terrifying to at last, reveal my passion for writing romance to those who’ve known me for so long. Who knows, maybe I’ll gain a few more readers along the way;)
In my latest release, Renegade Hearts, Dalton Kinnison is placed in the category of “bad” boy” due to his drinking habit and hanging at the bar playing pool. (possible reference to the Music Man , there) but his past waltzes in looking more beautiful and less interested than when they last met. He doesn’t want to have feelings for the woman that burned him, but little does he know that this woman has a secret that could blow the lid off his little sequestered-in-a-bottle world.
Thank you to all the readers who’ve let me know how much they’ve enjoyed the Kinnisons and to all who’ve asked–Yes! There WILL be more stories coming from the interesting characters of End of the Line, Montana, and the Last Hope Ranch! (More on this to come! stay tuned!)
If you haven’t yet checked out the Kinnison Brothers, I sure hope you will give them a try!
