What’s Your Naughty Guilty Pleasure?

Sometimes I think my husband, Kick, is trying to sabotage my writing career! Last week, he downloaded Candy Crush Saga onto his Kindle. Then he showed me how much fun it is to play. He never mentioned “instant addiction!”

This blog post is late today because Kick and I have been spending every free minute playing the game, and I didn’t realize until just now that my post didn’t go up on the site! That’s really bad because I usually check it first thing in the morning. Not only is Candy Crush addictive, it’s also distracting.

I have deadlines, I have a family, I have to get my butt up and exercise once in a while. How am I going to overcome this new obstacle?

What’s your favorite obsession? Are you a Candy Crusher, too? Or are you a mega-fan of another game, TV show, musician, or store?

Have a great day (what’s left of it!)

Lately my obsession is twitter and facebook

    • Randi Alexander says:

I know what you mean. One day, I thought, there’s nothing on TV that’s as interesting as what’s going on on Facebook. During my writing time, I limit myself to check it only every three hours. That ‘usually’ works! Thanks for commenting, Cindy!

LOL I have managed to escape that addiction! Even thought I play games similar to Candy Crush I never end up being addicted. I just play for the heck of procrastination and boredom. Or not wanting to read. I know shocking! But I am addicted at looking at books, either free, on sale, or just there on book seller sites. And can I say I will click purchase if they really pull me in? Not good at all on my card that is.

    • Randi Alexander says:

That’s a great addiction! I’d love to spend hours looking at book covers and reading blurbs. That’ll be my next new thing – after I get sick of Candy Crush. Thanks for stopping by today.

  3. Laurie P says:

    Facebook and readying.

    • Randi Alexander says:

Reading is a wonderful hobby. I crave it, too, and we make sure the kids get in their page count every day. And yes, Facebook is totally addictive!

  4. Porchia says:

Reading!!!!! My kindle is always with me were ever I go. I have withdraws if I don’t have something to read. 😉

    • Randi Alexander says:

I love that, Prochia. I need to read at night before I fall asleep. I read on my phone, so even if I don’t have my purse, there’s reading material in my pocket! Hahaha

  5. Clare O'Beara says:

No I haven’t tried that game, but like the late Iain Banks I find Civilisation 3 addictive to the point where it could stop me writing. Maybe it depends on whether you’re a world builder or a game level player?

    • Randi Alexander says:

Hey, Clare, I remember Farmville being a huge world building game not too long ago. All my friends invited me to join through Facebook, but I resisted! I’ll have to try Civilisation some day, just for fun.

  6. I confess that I am equally obsessed with Candy Crush. I also have it on my Kindle Fire and wonder if there is a 12 step program for this yet. LOL

  7. Molly Ann Wishlade says:

My daughter introduced me to Candy Crush and it sure is addictive! I have asked her to keep her I- pad away from me because I know that once I start on that game…I’m done writing for the day! 🙂

    • Randi Alexander says:

Good plan, Molly. I’ll ask Kick to hide his Kindle when he leaves for work. The good thing is, we haven’t purchased any lives or extras. We limit ourselves to the free stuff only, so that’s been good for my writing. Thanks for the great comment!

  8. Joye says:

My obsession is not Candy Crush-it is candy. I love chocolates and anything sweet. My favorites are M&M’s.

  9. Elaine S. says:

My obsession is reading. I get started and I am in my own little world. I am like you nothing gets done. I like to play Candy Crush but it isn’t something I do all the time. I have always been a reader my family and friends know that I can tune them out in a heartbeat. They tease me about it all the time!!!!!

  10. Sue Cox says:

Hi ! I too am a guilty Candy Crush addict ! Crazy that such amazing level headed women like us would be stuck on blasting jelly !! It’s not even a deep mind bending strategic one either, all my cowboy heroes would be disappointed in me I think. Oh guess now’s the time to divulge I got stuck on Bubble Witch too, trying to win more lives…. sad really. LOL

  11. Jane Smolen says:

I am hooked on Gardens of Time on Facebook!!!! Can’t seem to stop playing. Tried Candy Crush and did not get into it. Might have to try again.

  12. Mary Preston says:

I’ve never played Candy Crush – sounds like I should not start.

  13. Janet Rodman says:

I also play Candy Crush. My son also turned me on to The Simpson’s Tapped Out. It is agree app for a smart phone and my iPad.

    • Janet Rodman says:

My son Chris turned me on to The Simpson’s Tapped Out. It is a free app for a smart phone and iPads. Always checking it for the money symbols so I can buy more property.

  14. Filia Oktarina says:

Reading and play Candy Crush too. LOL.

  15. Karen j says:

My husband did the same thing!! I got so wrapped up in that game!!! Until I reached the point that I lost so many times I gave up! 😉
