So why do we like to write about cowboys? Good question.
I personally have a thing for them so that’s why I write about them, but I do like how they treat their women, wear their boots, hats, and jeans and just the general persona behind a cowboy. They are caring, sensitive, gentlemanly, at least in my books and I assume in my fellow writer’s books. Of course, there is always a bad guy. *insert evil grin*
I went to a dude ranch last year in Bandera, Texas for a few days with a writer’s retreat and it spawned my new series Cowboy Dreamin’ which takes place in Bandera. I loved the little town, but I also loved looking at the cowboys. It was cool to be able to take it all in and not get in trouble for staring.
I’ve been to San Antonio as well with a small conference last year called The Naughty Sleepover. This year it’s called Wild Wicked Weekend and yes, I’ll be attending it as well. This is at a haunted hotel near the Alamo, which is really cool, but that’ll be for another post.
The whole atmosphere of Texas gets to me. I love the laid back attitude, friendly people, and when the guys tips their hats? Oh my!
So for me to write about cowboys comes naturally. Why do you like to read about them?
