Snow on the Ground and a Winner!

Christmas 12

Hello all! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Christmas in Fort Worth this year was that most shocking of all things – white. Very white. Like it was a Texas Blizzard white. Yes, it snowed on Christmas Day. I can remember one other time in my life it did that. It was a beautiful capper to what has been a craptastic week in my household. The snow was white, but it was the flu that held us captive.
My sweet little four year old turns into a monster when she’s sick. A phlegmy, cranky dictator. My normally funny, happy teenaged boy turns into a whiny ball of goo who can’t even hold his precious X-box controller. My husband just looks at me through pain filled eyes as though I really should be the one to heal him, not those doctors he never actually wants to go see. And I try to work through it all and cook through it all and finally pass out from sheer exhaustion. The only smart one in the house? My middle child who, upon hearing the first cough, shut herself in her room and communicated only via Facetime until it was time to open the presents. December 21st came and I was okay with the Apocalypse because it meant my lungs would stop trying to crawl out of my body.
We were like the Walking Dead, except with more coughing and crabby toddlers.
But life goes on. The world is white and lovely and I’m back to edits and writing. I wish you all a Happy Holidays and a healthy New Year!
But before I go, I need to announce the winner of the lovely Fiona Archer’s e-book contest. Congrats to Clare O’Beara! Contact me at sophie@sophieoak.com for how to get your book!

Sophie Oak writes erotic romance for Siren Publishing. Her latest book Once Upon a Time in Bliss comes out January 25th.

sorry to hear your family has been sick, I think usually the husband is worse than the kids when they are are fighting off a bug. I hope you are all well soon, sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

I understand the sick family, only it was our guests who came both Christmas eve and Christmas day with sick kids to pass it on to whomever else will pick it up. LOL. Isn’t Christmas a time of sharing? LOL. Hope you all get to feeling better soon. Happy New Year!

Sorry to read of your flu situations – we vaccinate against flu here but only people at risk are given the jab free, such as pregnant women, people with heart or lung conditions and health workers.
Thanks for the news of my prize!

I hope everyone is feeling better now. I can’t even stand myself when I get sick, I tend to get whiny.
