Many years ago, I took a girls weekend trip to New Mexico. Yesterday, while sorting through a box of photos, I found these. I’m not exactly sure where this was (and if you recognize it, please let me know!) but it’s absolutely beautiful.
We snapped this photo of a home. I love that the turquoise chairs match the sky so well. How do they do that?
Somewhere on the drive, we ran into a roadblock.
Yep, cows – and cowboys! Is it an optical illusion, or is that one big horse?
New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment, and I can see why. It’s rustic and ageless, wide-open spaces and beautiful people. I think it’s time to take a family vacation there. I know the little ones would be fascinated, and I want to feel that enchantment once again. (Yeah, okay, and I want to run into some cowboys, too!)
What’s your favorite vacation memory? Are you taking a vacation this year?
Happy Friday!

Hello Randi,
I love all of the great pictures, and i’m glad to hear you had a great vacation!
Cowboy Lust, is only avail. for pre-order still? Is that what you meant by a month early?
Ooops, my apologies. It’s only the paperback copy that’s shipping now. The Kindle version is still pre-order. (Not sure why, but that’s the mystery of Amazon!) Thanks for letting me know, and I’ve corrected it on my post.
Visited Phoenix, drove around to Casa Grande, Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Nevada, Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Joshua Tree National Forest, back to Phoenix, all in a week. Best trip ever. Your photos are beautiful.
Clare, that sounds like a wonderful trip. Did you take that dam tour?
beautiful pictures. One day I’m going to get there.
I hope you do, Eileen. We had so much fun talking to people in tiny little pueblos and small towns. It’s so traditional and friendly, you’d love it.
My favorite trip was when we eloped to Montana. I loved the mountains, the ghost towns, and visiting Yellowstone. We might still take a trip to South Dakota yet this year and to one of my favorite river towns Prairie Du Chien.
You eloped? That’s so romantic. Wow.
Great pictures! I’m not going on vacation anywhere this year – just staying home and relaxing in the air conditioning
Yes, It’s been a hot one, hasn’t it? I see the term Staycation everywhere I look nowdays. Stay close to home and pretend you’re vacationing. Kind of a fun idea. Enjoy your cool home, Maria.
Hmm, Elephant Lake south of Albuquerque? It’s like a oasis just off I25 between Albuquerque and Las Cruces. No vacation this year, no car. Bummer! Wow, favorite vacations? Maybe the time I drove I10 from Jacksonville to LA or the tour of all the western states or my trip to Italy. Lots of trips in a long life, hard to choose.
Yes, I think you’re right. Elephan Lake – we spent a lot of time around Albuquerque. Thanks, Nancy. And wow, you’ve had some great vacations. I’d love to see Italy some day.
YOUR PICTURES ARE AMAZING. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE, SOME SEXY COWBOYS ON HORSES. MY FAVORITE VACATION WAS BACK IN 2003, DUE TO I NEVER FLOWN BEFORE. I WENT TO LAS VEGAS WITH MY DAD. IT WAS AWESOME, BUT I COULD NOT WIN AT THE MANY CASINO’S WE WENT TO. WHAT A SHAME. I CANNOT GO ON A VAC-KAY THIS YEAR, DUE TO I WAS LAID OFF, FROM MY JOB ON THREE YEARS, OUCH!!!
Oh, Tiffy, I’m sorry about your layoff. Hope you find something soon!
Lovely pictures. Not sure about any vacation this year.

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, we’re doing a few little getaways to friend’s and family’s cabins, but no big vacation this year. The good thing is, gas prices are going down! LOL
Already had our vacation, if you call a trip to the Black Hills a vacation. We go every three months for Dr’s appts, but we went to a family reunion and then the Black Hills Roundup Rodeo. I won mega stuffed animals at the carnival and all in all, had a great time. I’m not much of a traveler, so don’t know if I’ll ever get to the west side of the US, but I love your pictures.
You live in such a beautiful area of the country, Tiss. So much to see there, plus rodeos! Family reunions are fun, aren’t they?
